The Friday and Saturday of December 4 and 5, 2015 saw huge celebrations taking place in the family life of Emeritus Professor J. ‘Bayo and Professor (Mrs.) Tomilayo Adekanye, namely the giving away in marriage and wedding of their much-beloved daughter Ayomide Adepeju Adekanye to her heart-throb Olayemi Paul Balogun. One of the country’s newspapers had undertaken to publicise the Ayomide wedding a few days ahead of the event as news item with the caption “Emeritus Professor Bayo Adekanye’s day of joy” (see The Nation, 28 November, 2015). The Betrothal ceremony which involved both a Traditional Proposal and Christian Marriage Engagement, and had taken place at the family residence in New Jericho GRA, Ibadan, Friday December 4, 2015, was kept a small family affair. The Holy Matrimony and Solemnisation Service, which held the following day at the All Saints’ Church, Idi-Isin Junction, Jericho, on Saturday December 5, 2015, attracted scores of members from the two families, and the relations, friends, colleagues, and well-wishers of Emeritus Professor J. ‘Bayo and Professor (Mrs.) Tomilayo Adekanye, who had come from far and near. The venue for Entertainment of Guests which followed immediately after the Church Service was at Felicia Hall, The Jogor Centre, off Liberty Stadium By-Pass, Ring Road, Ibadan.
